- 3 C flour
- 1 T Yeast
- 11/2 T Olive oil
- 2 t Salt
- 2 T Sugar
- 1 T Garlic powder
- About 1 1/2 C Warm water
In a mixer place your yeast as well as about 1/2 the needed water and 1/2 the needed sugar. Let the yeast react for about 5 minutes. Once the yeast is foamy add the remainder of the sugar and all other ingredients together. Add the water in last. I say about 1 1/2 c warm water because it’s never exact and you don’t want a sticky dough so add the water slowly. If it is too sticky you can always add a little more flour when you are rolling them out. Let the dough rice in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.
Once the dough has risen, divide the dough into small ball sizes. Roll the dough out paper-thin as you would if you were making thin crust pizza.
Get your frying pan hot – medium high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. When the pan is hot, place your dough in the pan. You will see the dough buff up; flip it once the bottom side is getting slightly brown. It doesn’t take long, maybe a minute or two. Flip, and when the second side is light brown, immediately place in a ziplock plastic bag. I know this sounds funny but it keeps the flatbread very pliable.
They are ready to eat!!!!! Enjoy!
PS. This is my recipe for pizza dough as well.
